How was the Shellac Manicure Procedure Different?
The process was pretty much the same as a regular manicure, with the exception of removal - which needs to be done with 100% acetone. The actual treatment keeps my nails strong and allows them to grow to long lengths. I've only managed to break one nail in the time I've been getting Shellac (3 months now) and that was due to bowling (my thumb nail!). So it takes a LOT to break a nail with shellac treatment. When it is removed my nails are still healthy, unlike when I've had acrylic in the past. No one believes me that these are my real nails -- they look so perfect!
What did You Think of the Shellac Polish?
My shellac manicure doesn't chip - Not on the first day. Not after three weeks. Not even when I open soda cans or remove keys from keychains. I get compliments on my nails ALL the time, no matter which color I have on. Color is usually what people compliment me on, but I think they are more so noticing the shine and sparkle that comes from the polish. It's beautiful!
Advice
- Choosing a light color can make your manicure last 'longer' because when it grows out a bit you don't notice the new growth as much.
- Have your manicurist experiment with overlaying colors to create new shades. I've had red, pink, and a coral color as well as a nude shade with glitter overlay - they are all gorgeous and sparkly!
- Pardon the pun, but it's hands-down the best manicure experience I've had!
