My Shellac Polish Review

Share Your Story: Shellac Nail Polish Reviews

From Amanda

How was the Shellac Manicure Procedure Different?

While slightly longer because of UV curing time, I LOVED that I could walk out and not worry about ruining my manicure, as if it were a gel nail.

What did You Think of the Shellac Polish?

It chipped within 3 days, came off 100% by the 5th. Unfortunately that means I'm back to using regular nail polish--for half the price it lasts just as long, if not longer. I didn't even WORK most of these days, nor do I take particularly long showers!

I do like that it had little to no damage to my nailbeds, apart from some minor staining, and how shiney it was, and how easy and clean removal was--one second it was ALL there, and once they started peeling, it only took a small tug to get the entire cover off every nail. (5 started to peel around the edges, the others I removed for consistency.)

Advice

  • My manicure was using OPI, so perhaps the other brands would be better, but I doubt it. I'd get it again if I'm heading to something I'm willing to make a big one time investment for (a wedding, a very posh event, or somewhere where I'm on stage/in camera) since it's almost impossible to smudge, and while it did chip within a few days the chips were small. Generally though, I won't go back.

Bummer! I'm really surprised to read this. You're right - spending more for a product that doesn't last any longer than polish isn't worth it. Looking forward to more reviews to see if you had a lemon of a polish or if your results are similar. Thanks for writing your review!
