Great question, Patty! As you know, the use of SPF is critical when it comes to fending off the signs of aging, especially wrinkling around the eyes. I have a friend who simply feels there is no great eye cream that is free of SPF, but I really don't agree with her. Sometimes just including SPF ingredients in a moisturizer will change the texture and absorption rate, and that's a big reason to leave it out.
If you want to splurge on the eye cream you're hearing such great things about, do! Then, just make sure you use an SPF product over the top. Perhaps it's simply your facial moisturizer, or maybe it's an actual facial sunscreen. By doing this your eyes will get the great benefits from the eye cream, but they will be protected from the sun as well.
But if you're looking for a more simple approach, there are many great eye creams with SPF in them - some very reasonably priced. A good drugstore eye cream with SPF is Garnier Nutritioniste: Skin Renew Anti-Sun-Damage Daily Eye Cream SPF 15 - (compare prices)
