Electrolysis Review Part Three

My Third Electrolysis Appointment

By , About.com Guide

Get Caught Up

After the pain of my last electrolysis appointment, I decided to take my electrologist, Marge's advice of using Ibuprofen 30 minutes before my appointment. I also applied some over-the-counter lidocaine spray about 10 minutes before my appointment. I know Marge applies a lidocaine cream, but I was trying to do all I could to lessen the discomfort.

Oddly enough, my appointment breezed by. I could not believe when the 30 minutes was up. Honestly, I thought I was getting jipped on time! (There isn't a clock in the room, and Marge uses a timer.) It wasn't until I saw the time in my car that I believed that I got the full 30 minutes.

I asked Marge how many hair she removes, no average, in 30 minutes, and she told me she absolutely didn't know. She said she was trained never to count individual hair strands in school. Some people have large pores and it goes fast, but then others have more concentrated hair that seems not to go as fast.

As for me, she continued to pick up strays on my chin and upper lip.

I feel I still have a long way to go, but I'm feeling positive about the lack of pain I felt this time. I'm definitely taking Ibuprofen from here on out!
