Shaping your brows can completely change the way you look, yet some are still hesitant to try it. What would you say to those people to encourage them to take the first step.
Have your brow specialist GO SLOW! You can always take more off the next visit. Keep them full and natural to begin with. A total brow makeover can be a shock, and this way you can have more confidence instilled in your brow specialist when you see she can do a great job with a natural look.
You work with celebrities on a regular basis. Which celebrities do you think have the perfect brow, and which do you wish you could work your magic on?
Angelia Jolie, Denise Richards, Queen Latifah, Halle Berry and Drew Barrymore all have fantastic brows. But I'd love to get my hands on Laura Linney, Sarah Jessica Parker and Stella McCarthy.
What about home waxing and shaping, can you give us some at-home tips?
Fill the brow in first with a power or pencil thicker then you would normally do before tweezing. Pick up the stray hairs and stay away from the brow line, leave that to the pro's!
What should we be looking for in a brow specialist? How can we know that he or she knows what their doing?
Unfortunately you don't! Do some research. Ask the brow specialist how many years they've been doing their job, where they trained, who they've worked with, and where they have worked in the past to get experience. Also, ask for referrals from friends or people you see that have brows that look professional.
I unfortunately lost my brow in a tragic waxing accident. And yes, she said she was qualified, and funny enough, she bribed me with a free pencil for not telling her boss what happened. It wasn't quite the look I was going for. What do you recommend if we've lost more than we cared to?
Of course you'll have to fill them in with powder until they (hopefully) grow back. Nioxon is a product used to stimulate hair growth. Apply only to the brow with a q-tip. If the root isn't permanently damaged, hair will grow back, but it will take time. If after 3 months the hair has not grown back, more then likely it never will.
Remember, it can take only one time of over tweezing and you may be wearing the brows you'll wear for life. This applies mostly to fair skinned clients.
What about men? Is eyebrow shaping for them? And how can we encourage our men to take the step towards hair removal?
Men need to keep brows natural, but groomed just the same. An arch is just as important for men as it is for women, but on a much more subtle scale. Keeping brows maintained can take years off there appearance just as it does for women.
What's your top waxing tip that you personally follow?
Well shaped brows can give most women the appearance of a mini face lift or pick me up. Perfect shaped brows for your face can completely change your face, just as over tweezed brows can change your face in a very negative way. If there is a question as to whether or not to take a hair or multiple hairs, don't. Just leave them.Thicker brows that are angular (think of clowns, they always have round shape brows) will compliment any face. Also, keeping a conservative distance between the brows is something I strongly recommend. Too often women and men take them too far apart. Use the pencil trick to line up where they should start and end aligning the eye with the pencil.
