Rodan + Fields: Anti-Age Gentle Exfoliating Wash

Rodan + Fields Anti-Age Gentle Exfoliating Wash isn't your normal anti-aging cleanser. Instead of a milky or hydrating cleanser, this is a clay-based product with small, but effective, particles to exfoliate while cleansing. But no matter how long I rinsed my face in the shower, I came out with product still on my skin. Every time.

Rodan + Fields Anti-Age Gentle Exfoliating Wash is part of a three-step product package geared towards aging skin. Typically when you think of an anti-aging cleanser, you think of a milky or creamy-based cleanser, so we were surprised to see a clay-based cleanser by Rodan + Fields.

The cleanser has a very thick, clay-like consistency with little exfoliating particles in it. The color of the cleanser is light great. When applied to your skin, the cleanser feels light and cool, and the particles aren't overwhelming, just providing a light exfoliating.

There is very minimal scent in this product. As light as it is, I'm quite certain it wouldn't offend even someone who doesn't like fragrance added in their products.

Using the product, I thought it felt effective in cleaning, and even though it is clay-based, my skin didn't feel dry or tight. When I came to my mirror to tone and moisturize, I was surprised to see product still left on my skin.

The next morning, I spent extra time rinsing off my face, using my fingers to massage the product off of my skin. Imagine my surprise to still see product on my face when I got out of the shower. The third day, the same thing happened, although I'm not quite sure how anything could have been left on my skin.

The only way that this product would be thoroughly removed is with a cloth each time you use it. And that's not a bad idea, as the washcloth does a gentle exfoliation as well, giving you a cleaner, smoother face.

And I guess this product could make you slow down and really take the time to clean your skin properly, but for me, it was more of a frustration than a positive experience.

I liked the product, the feel of it on my skin and the smoothness after using, but not knowing if I'm going to have to re-wash my face when I get out of the shower is enough to make me grab a different cleanser for daily use.
