The Bottom Line

Lush's unique facial cleanser and soft exfoliator Angels on Bare Skin is a fairly good find for those with sensitive skin. It gets the job done and makes your skin feel gently exfoliated and fully cleansed. But, it is expensive and the product is a little messy and odd-smelling.

Guide Review - Lush: Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser

When I opened my container of Angels on Bare skin for the first time, I immediately thought "How the heck do I use this?" That's because the product is a hard green, gritty-looking clay. If it were a mask, I would have known how to to apply it, but as a cleanser? I wasn't so sure.

It also has ground rice mixed in to exfoliate your skin. The rice looked just like seeds. My jar basically looked like someone had scooped random parts of a beach into it. Not too sexy. I wanted a tool to help me apply it to my face because I wasn't quite sure how to use it. But, since I had read about all of the healthy ingredients it contains (ground almond, lavender and rose oils), I decide to forge on.

Since the cleanser is expensive, I decided to only use a little. My strategy was to put a small amount in the palm of my hand and rub it with two of my fingers from my other hand until it became more of a consistency that I could apply to my face. That seemed to work well and I could feel the rice exfoliating my skin as I cleansed.

As it advertises, the exfoliation part of the cleanser is very gentle. It's not a deep scrub. The cleanser also has a very distinct smell reminding us of old flowers. It takes some getting use to the heavy smell and it was not something we enjoyed. Luckily the scent completely rinses off with the product.

I could feel that the skin on my face was smooth and that it had done a good job cleansing and exfoliating. After a few days, I have become used to the smell and how to use the product. It never caused my face any irritation, redness or breakouts.

If you have sensitive skin and the general aesthetics of this product do not bother you, then you may be interested in trying Angels on Bare Skin to see if it is a good match. But if you are looking for more of a deep scrub and want something that is neat and easy to use, keep looking.
