This is a great facial cleanser. I was impressed with many things about it including price, quality and results.
Those of us with sensitive skin have been brainwashed to think that clear, plain, and boring are always the best products for us, so this cleanser’s green color, seaweed and fragrance might make you nervous about trying it. I admit, I was skeptical when I first looked it over. However, I found it to be not irritating at all and I loved how it improved the overall texture and appearance of my skin.
Description
This facial cleanser comes in a generous 8 oz. clear plastic bottle (due to the color of the product, the bottle looks green), and it has a white plastic twist cap. It has a nice fresh scent although I couldn’t quite put my finger on what to call it. It seemed like a combination of a light eucalyptus and floral scent.
The product is thick, green and creamy. It also has something that looks like tiny black seeds in it. I think these are real bits of seaweed. They are included in the cleanser for exfoliation but they are not too hard or abrasive and did not irritate or scratch my skin. (making your way through skin care ingredients)
A little goes a long way with this cleanser so the 8 oz bottle should last you a long time. When you wash your face with it, the cleanser turns into a white lather (but not very soapy or bubbly). The little black seeds do not disintegrate as you wash, so you do have to make sure you have rinsed them all off of your face.
The company states that this cleanser is for “All skin types” and that it “removes make-up and debris without disturbing the skin’s delicate moisture balance.” I found this to be true and even though it looks very creamy, I did not feel like it over-moisturized my skin or left it oily and greasy.
On the bottle, the instructions for use are: “Massage in circular motions on wet skin and rinse thoroughly with tepid water. Follow with Mario Badescu toner or astringent. Use twice daily.”
Seaweed Cleansing Soap - Review
Things I Loved:
- Doesn’t Irritate, Dry or Hurt Skin: I found the cleanser to be mild, moisturizing and not irritating.
- Results: After about a week of use, I noticed my pores looked better, and a few of my acne scars seemed to look smoothed over and less noticeable.
- The Price: I was shocked to find this cleanser was only $12 per bottle because it seems like such a high-end spa product that would have a much bigger price tag.
(What are pores and why are mine so large?)
Things I Didn't Love:
- The Seaweed Bits: The one thing that might be making this product great (the calming and exfoliating effects of the seaweed bits) is the one thing that detracts from the product a little. For some reason, the seaweed bits can be stubborn about getting completely washed off. After I cleansed and dried my face, I would think that I had washed everything off, but then when I would use a toner, I’d see on the cotton square that I was still wiping off some residual seaweed bits. For that reason, it is very important that you always follow-up this cleanser with a toner.
