The Bottom Line

I love this collection of lip balm with SPF 8 from Juice Beauty. The two colors look perfect on most everyone, and there is a clear for application over your lipstick or on natural days. As for moisturizing, it does give a little bit, but not as much as I was expecting from the product name.

Guide Review - Juice Beauty: SPF 8 Lip Moisturizers

Juice Beauty is well known for their vegetarian-friendly, organic skin care products. They have a full skin care line packed with organic ingredients that is popular with those who love shopping "green".

Juice Beauty's SPF 8 Lip Moisturizers is packaged in a small 100% recycled box. Inside are three lip balms in the following shades: Naturally Clear, Joyful and Playful. Naturally Clear is obviously colorless, Joyful is a light pink and Playful is a darker mauve.

What I love about these lip balms is the fact that the color is light, but definitely noticeable. Why use your lipstick or lip gloss when you can give yourself a hint of color and sun protection at the same time? The colors are mild, making a good choice for most people. And by including a clear, you can easily apply it to the top of your lip stain to create a layer of sun protection.

Juice Beauty used to have lip balms with SPF 15, so I'm a bit disappointed in the SPF 8 level in these lip balms. The recommended minimum SPF coverage is SPF 15, so this obviously falls short, but it is of course better than no protection at all. Just remember to reapply on a regular basis.

As for the promise of moisturizing, I felt they lacked in that department. They boast plant oils, mango and passionfruit essences and honey in the formula, but these lip balms go on dry and don't give you the hydrating feeling you long for when you apply a lip balm. But they do get extra credit because of the inclusion of SPF.

This 3-pack of lip moisturizers retail for $15. You can also pick just one balm at a retail price of $6.50. But as mentioned earlier, each color is great, and you'd likely enjoy all three.
