Clarifying Salt Treatment - What is it?
Have you ever taken a vacation to the ocean and noticed that your skin's appearance improved? So did Clarisea's founder, Alison Carton. No matter what acne regimen she tried, her skin wouldn't stay clear, until she took a month-long trip to the ocean. The salts in the water made a vast improvement in her skin, so the idea of recreating this skin purifying treatment at home was born.
The clarifying salt treatment is a simple combo of sea salts that are gentle enough for your skin. They can be used as a face soak, a body soak or an exfoliator.
Clarifying Salt Treatment as a Facial Treatment
We sampled Clarifying Salt Treatment two ways; our face with the collapsible bowland in our bath as a body treatment.
When using the bowl, the instructions are to fill it with warm water and add one scoop of salt, mixing until it dissolved. You are then to put your face into the bowl, taking breaths as needed. I'll be honest, filling up the bowl with water and salt knowing I was about to stick my face in it was a little weird. And dunking my face was a little strange, but hey, we put our face under the shower each day, why should this be any different. (Though it was, of course.)
It's suggested to leave your face in the bowl for 2 minutes, a few times a week. But if you're not sure you like the idea of putting your face in the bowl, you can also get a continuous sprayer which delivers the right amount of product to your face. We didn't try it this way, but we were told it's for the shower, so you can spray your face instead of dunking it. Just spray onto your face until it's empty!
After we used the treatment a few times, we did notice our face feeling smoother, cleaner and surprisingly not dry. It is suggested to cut back if your skin does feel irritated, though.
Clarifying Salt Treatment as a Body Treatment
If you have acne on your body, this treatment is extremely easy to use. Simply add a cup to your bath and soak away for 10 minute minimum. This was easy to do, no problems, no issues.
And to streamline the treatment, you can simply dunk your face in your tub water to treat both your face and your body.
Our Thoughts
We give Clarisea props for figuring out a super easy way to treat acne without using harsh chemicals. This is something that parents could feel good about giving their teens to use, and it's something that, while maybe a bit odd, is easy to do before bed.
And the biggest part is that their prices are so reasonable. 38 ounces costs $18, but you can get a 15 pound bag for only $35! That makes it so easy and affordable for a long term treatment program.
If you're a bath taker, it's a no-brainer to add a cup to your bath and treat your acne. And while it's not as simple to do your face, we think that it's very doable. And as quick as brushing your teeth before bed!
