Cosmo's Sexiest Beauty Secrets - Digging Deeper

This book is decked out in color - Beautiful images and products all around. The book reads just like a good magazine, shorts spurts of great info with no long boring paragraphs to be found. Let me just show you for example how jammed packed each chapter is.

The first chapter, "Gorgeous Skin", we're guided in finding our skin type, shown how to take care of it daily, given visuals on what products to use and how much we should be using. It then teaches us about exfoliation, sunscreen, anti-aging tips and product ingredients, as well as tips and advice for each different ethnicity. It informs us on foods and vitamins we should be getting that will help our skin glow and it educates us on acne and how to get clear skin with creams, prescriptions or in-office help.

My favorite tip in chapter one: To flatten, heal and hide a pimple, use a toner to dry out the oil, cool and flatten the bump with an ice cube wrapped in a tissue for one minute and then apply spot treatment.

And this is just dissecting one 14 page chapter -- Each of the 10 chapters are jammed packed with great info that you'll be glad you know!

Cosmo's Sexiest Beauty Secrets - The Good

Looking for step-by-step makeup instructions? This has more than enough tips and tricks for your eyes, lips, foundation and nails. The visuals will make it easy to walk through their step-by-step instructions. Some examples are: amazing arches, the best liner looks, smooch-proof your pout, finding the right foundation shade, the best bronzer.

Looking for ways to get super-sexy hair? There is no shortage of tips and secrets that will help inspire you to transform your boring hair into sexy locks. And these really aren't the recycled tips you've been reading already. Some of the topics: Revive a day-old blowout, revive your roots in record time, how to recover from hat hair, how to deal with product overload, and how to pull off a pro dye job at home.

And it goes on and on from body to fragrance to nail care. I really don't think they've missed a single beauty problem or question that could have come up.

I'm also loving the spa treatments chapter, where they've shared spa tips and at-home treatments from Brazil, Morocco, India, Japan and Indonesia.

As noted above, each page is a treat.

Cosmo's Sexiest Beauty Secrets - The Bad

You get the vibe that you're working on your beauty strictly for men. Here are a couple examples:

  • In the body chapter, there are 2 pages specifically with bikini lines. A tip circled on the side says, "49% of guys love it when you're completely bare down there."
  • A tip on "body bling" give us advice to use a flavored body lotion or powder so "your guy will get a yummy surprise when he goes in for a nuzzle."

In fact, there is an entire chapter on men's interpretation of our beauty habits. But we're talking Cosmo, here. And this is real Cosmo. Interviewing 20-something guys to get their impression of our bikini line, smokey eyes and nail-care habits. If that bugs you, I can probably guarantee you're still going to find a million beauty things to love about this book.
