The start of summer is finally here and those looking for a quick tan might be thinking about looking at indoor tanning. I find a lot of people know it's bad for your skin, but because they don't really know how bad it can be, they do it anyway. I'm republishing this blog post to remind you that indoor tanning shouldn't even be an option.

We talked last week about tanning dangers, and soon after that post, the news broke of the coloration between tanning and skin cancer. If you were ignoring the facts before, there's no possible way to ignore them now. According to the study, tanning in a tanning bed before the age of 30 ups your cancer risk to 75%! (Over the age of 30? Don't think you're out of the water.) In fact, they rate tanning beds as dangerous as arsenic and mustard gas! Yikes!
So what does this mean for you? First, if you're tanning, stop. If you're thinking about tanning, don't. If you're a mom of a teen and he or she wants to tan, say no. Get my drift? Just say no. And don't forget to share this info with your friends, family and teens that work at the tanning salon.
I know for those die-hard tanners this is bad news, and you're probably really upset about the facts. You may even be tempted to ignore them because you love your tan so much, but do some research on skin cancer and you'll change your mind.
Become friends with self tanners, my friends. They really can give you the look you're going for.
