Vitamin E in Skin Care

Follow me on:

Last night, I taught a skin care class to approximately 50 women, and what a great time we had. We whipped up a tub of Cherry Almond Sugar Body Scrub and talked about the benefits of body exfoliation and ingredients you can use right at home to pamper your skin.

You can make the simple recipe we made.

  • 1 Cup Sugar (We mixed brown and white, but use what you have.)
  • 1/2 Cup Sweet Almond Oil (But if you have olive, or sunflower at home, use that! Always use what you have.)
  • 1 ml Fragrance Oil (I purchased ours from BrambleBerry.com)
  • 1 Capsule Vitamin E (Popped open with a push-pin and squeezed into our containers.)

Vitamin E capsule? Absolutely! Vitamin E is chuck-full of antioxidants that are extremely beneficial to your skin. They fight off free radicals, which cause aging signs. Vitamin E can help prevent wrinkles and reduce age spots. Feel free to just pop them open and apply directly to your skin! You can purchase the capsules rather frugally at your local drugstore, especially if they are having a BOGO sale.

If you tend to make your own body scrubs at home, one extra benefit of adding some vitamin E is that it will help prolong the life of your scrub. It's not a preservative, so it won't make them last as long as a scrub with preservative, but it will help them last longer than the oils alone.

So, the next time you're at the drugstore, check out the Vitamin E capsules. Sure, you can use them as a daily supplement for a healthy body, but use them on your skin, too!

To all the ladies from last night - it was great to meet you, and have fun with your sugar scrubs!
