Here we are, January 1st, 2010. It's a fresh start, a new year and a time to reflect on what we did last year and what we'd like to do this year. Actually, it's a new decade! Think about who you were last decade and who you'd like to be this decade. I'd like to share my new year's resolution with you, and I hope you can jump on board with me.
When I stand in front of the mirror, it's so easy for me to see the things I don't like about myself. My crooked teeth, my cellulite, the scars on my belly from pregnancy, 10 pounds I could stand to lose, my funny looking toes...the longer I stare, the easier it is to pick things I dislike. But this year, I want to change that. This year I want to celebrate the things that make me, me!
My goal is to change the way I think. When I start wishing that my teeth were perfect, I want to focus in on my insanely long eye lashes. When I see the scars from pregnancy, I want to focus on the way my life has been exponentially blessed by what caused them. When I focus in on the too-large-for-my-liking pores on my nose, I want to change directions and see the long, beautiful red hair that I have. When I see the extra "meat" on my bones, I want to zero in on my plump, full lips that I was blessed with.
How about you? What makes you beautiful? Look in the mirror and find something you love about yourself. Then, share it with the world! (Well, with us anyway!) The more people that share what makes them feel beautiful, the more impact we can have on those who come across it who might not be feeling all that beautiful.
The more beauty we see in the mirror, the more beautiful we feel. The more beautiful we feel, the more beautiful we become. (Share What's Beautiful About You)
Happy New Years! Let's make it a year of celebrating ourselves.
