Can You Get a Tan When You Wear Sunscreen?

A reader wrote in complaining about self tanners, and wondered if she would still get a tan if she wore sunscreen. She wanted to protect her skin, but loves getting the nice glow that summer brings.

We understand, don't we? Sometimes doing the right thing for your body means you don't get the benefits you were hoping for. So, I'm wondering what you think about sunscreen and sunburn. Can you still get a tan while wearing sunscreen? Or will the sunscreen block your quest for bronze summer skin?
