Fit Flops - Are They All Hype?

I had to hit my local Bath and Body Works yesterday after drooling over their new White Citrus line on their website. (buy direct) I needed some new hand soaps, and Bath and Body Works never fails when it comes to filling up on hand soaps.
While I was there, I overheard an employee talking to a customer about how FitFlops have totally changed her thighs. They went from flabby to toned. (Apparently.) I couldn't help but eavesdrop on this conversation because while I have seen FitFlops advertised, I have never, even for a minute, thought they would tone my thighs.
According to the company, when wearing FitFlops, the muscles in your legs work harder than when wearing other shoes. I have to call out to those of you who have FitFlops. What gives? Sure, they're cute, but are they worth $50+? And honestly, have you noticed real toning results?

I so don’t miss working at Bath & Body Works and trying to get customers to buy things. They’ve been selling these flip flops for several years now.
I stopped buying their soap a long time ago especially the anti-bac soaps. They cause more harm then good.
I have had my Fitflops for 3 days now, and wearing them all over the house, to work, etc. But they just don’t feel quite right. I don’t know if they take some time to get used to, or if I am anatomically defunct. lol
The strap over the top of the foot doesn’t sit where it is supposed to. I never thought my feet were that “thick” but maybe they are. The strap is too tight, so I can’t get my toes all the way to the end where they should be, and my heel is falling off the back edge of the shoe. The length actually seems a bit too long but I know if I went any smaller I wouldn’t even be able to get my foot into them because of the strap! The “thong” part that goes between your toes isn’t in the right place, and they feel like they are too loose.
They are very difficult to wear while driving, and very dangerous to wear on stairs! Is it just me? I want to love them (after all, I can’t believe I spent $40 on a pair of flops!)…..but not sure if I am going to keep them or sell a gently used pair on Fitflops on ebay by next week.
Yikes, Dixie Chick! That sounds like too much trouble to me. Flip flops are supposed to be easy! Slip them on and off you go!
I think you’ve saved me $40!
I have worn fit flops for a year now and have them in 2 colors. I LOVE THEM. I have not noticed toner legs but they are the most comfortable flip flops I have ever owned. I wear them everywhere, and do a lot of walking!
I actually found this link while looking to buy a third pair. Worth every penny for me. I tried the generic ones from Sears but they hurt in between my toes.
I love these shoes! I have had them for a year and I wear them any time I can because they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever had. I have flat feet and maybe that’s why, but I would re-buy them in a heartbeat! I am looking at getting another color this year.
The plot thickens, doesn’t it? It appears this is like everything else, some love it some don’t. I think I’ll have to try them myself!
Keep the comments coming!
Hi! Hadn’t heard about Fit-Flops until last week. A friend of mine came by and noticed my sandals and asked if they were Fit-Flops, as apparently they look just like them. They weren’t they were Thera-Sandals, which I guess is what Shoe Lover was referring to…the generic Sears/Kmart sandals. I have never worn FIt-Flops, so cannot compare. However, from my own experience, these are the most comfortable pair of thong-type sandals I have ever owned. They really did give me the initial “burn” I see promised by Fit-Flop and MBT shoes. They feel like they were made just for my feet! Sooooo great!!!! I wear insoles and was NOT looking forward to another summer of either hot and stuffy athletic shoes, or downright uncomfortable sandals and painful feet and legs. So, I guess, to each their own. One product rarely ever satisfies all that try it, as we are all unique. Just wanted to share my experience. Besides, for $9.99 (which is the sale price at Kmart right now), I couldn’t hardly have gone wrong, now could I?!
I have two pair and am getting ready to buy a third. I wear them any chance I get. The most comfortable shoe EVER! I even work out on my eliptical machine in them, take aerobic walks in them etc. They are the BEST!!
I bought my first pair of Fitflops a few days ago. They are super comfortable and seem to be giving my legs a workout, so I bought a second pair in another color the next day. Later in the same shopping trip, I saw nearly identical Therasandals at Sears on sale for $10, so I bought them to compare. When I tried the two brands on at home, I found that the Therasandals rubbed more between my toes. I am going to return them and happily alternate between my two pair of Fitflops!
I own 4 pair and wear nothing else on my feet. It is the only way I can get thru the day without my legs and feet hurting.
I have 4 – yep – 4 pairs and I LOVE them! I am now looking for yet another color. I have had my first pair since this time last year and they are still in really good shape. I am a flipflop junkie and this one shoe is the one that fits me the best and is the most comfortable than any other flipflop I have worn. Granted, they are a little wide and you do have to be careful on steps, but this is all I wear in the summer time. I love them. Don’t quite know about toning the thighs and all that,(Gee I hope so), but I do know that some flipflops have caused my back to hurt if I wear them more than twice a week. I have the fitflops on every single day of the week and they have yet to hurt my back. Like I said, I am now looking for a 5th color in them.
I love fitflops. It doesn’t tone your legs or help you lose cellulite. BUT they help reduce my leg pain and my lower back pain. I’m a college student and I walk all over campus. Huge campus. They are so comfortable and very low pain in my feet, legs, and back. In fact, fitflops are better than my expensive walking shoes.
Don’t believe the hype on weightloss shoes. NO such thing. You can only loose the pounds by 45min cardio, 30min weight training, and eating low fat and carb diet everyday.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Fit Flops! Worth every cent of the $50 price tag! I wore them all last summer, and I’ll be doing it again this year. They run a little large. I usually wear a 9 1/2, and had to buy a 9 for them to fit just right.
I think Fit Flops are FANTASTIC and THE most comfortable thing I have ever worn on my foot! Bought my first pair of White leather in February 08. I live near Orlando and am a frequent visitor to the theme parks and walk around from early morning until fireworks at 10.00pm and have no foot pain or blisters. You can also shop until you drop – (you don’t so that’s a plus!) My body, back and legs feel comfortable. I bought my second pair – black patent leather Walkstar III’s in March this year and am now buying the same in Red Lipstick and Bronze. Apart from the comfort I am sure that my backside is firmer and a little more lifted and also my thighs look a little better!! I go through phases where I wear them all the time to alternating between my regular flip flops. After, reading all the reviews while choosing my new ones I vow to wear mainly my fit flops (it will be easier with the 2 new colors!!). I went a size up and they are a perfect fit. Go for it!
I own 3 pair and absolutely LOVE them. I have worn them all summer long! They are so comfortable. I was worried about wearing something between my toes as most sandals irritate me and I am not able to wear them. NOT the case with Fit Flops. I recommend them highly. I own them in black, bronze and red.
I bought a pair off e-bay last year and am looking to get another one. $50.00 is not my thing, so I am waiting to get a good deal. (sz 11 even harder to find:)
I had plantar fascilitis and these shoes have cured it for me. I can walk on them all day w/o pain the night after. I LOVE these shoes.
Love my fitflops! They are so very comfortable and reduce leg and back pain you get from wearing other shoes. I hated to spend $50 but it was well worth it. they make my feet happy
I am looking for the new fall fitflop shoes – gogh and ultra lounge. Has anyone found them on sale anywhere?
No, my thighs are not that of Gisele’s but i will never go back to the supportless flip-flops i used to wear. The only negative thing about them, is that they make my feet smell. This isn’t a problem for me with any other shoes I own.
I bought my fit flops about 6 months ago and LOVE them. Haven’t notice the fitness benefits but as others have shared, they are extremely comfortable and supportive. I have circulatory issues and when I wear these my legs feel great!!!! I’ve give 2 pair as gifts and both friends are thrilled!
I bought a pair this Summer…. I haven’t worn anything else other than for a few hours at a funeral. They are the most comfortable things I have EVER had on my feet. And they seem to help my back…. I will be buying more of them. Oh, and if I go for a long walk while wearing them… they DEFINITELY hit muscles that I wouldn’t normally hit just walking…. so they do have a bit of a workout built in.
I have 5 pairs! they are so comfortable, I wore them everyday, though I’m not sure if there are changes on my thigh, I don’t really care but what I noticed was less stress on my back. for me it’s worth every penny. just be careful in choosing the style that you want, some styles does have really tight straps, but some of them are fine. I simply just love them.
Bought my first pair around July 4, 2009. I have only the one black patent leather pair, so I find myself wearing mostly things that match black. I don’t want to wear other shoes anymore. Thank goodness they are coming out with Fall/Winter shoes. My friends and I were concerned about what we would do when the weather turns cold. They really help with my bone spur on my heel. No other shoes compare with the comfort of the Fit Flops.
I was originally intrigued by these Fitflops for the ‘toning’ benefits/claims, and after buying a pair and wearing them, I could actually care less about that aspect! They are by far the most comfortable pair of sandals/shoes i’ve ever worn. On the site (and even here) you’ll see reviews on how it has helped wearers alleviate back pain due to how it deals with shock absorption, and I can only agree with all of those comments because they’ve done the same for me.
I’m about to buy a pair of the Gogh style boots for the cooler weather season because i’ll miss my sandals too much once it gets cold!
I’ve never had a problem with the awkwardness of walking in them that some mention, they’re not too tight or loose. Their site does come with sizing recommendations as American feet and European feet are shaped a bit differently, and it’s a UK-based company.
I have 2 pair and LOVE them. I have been wearing only them for 6 weeks and yes my thighs and buns are firmer and I do believe the cellulite is slowly leaving me too!! Having said that I walk in them at least an hour a day and have lost about 10 pounds by eating less and over 4 – 6 times a day!
I wish they came in narrow sizes.
Been wearing mine for a few months and loathe to take them off. Have bought a pair of Billows for winter and cant wait to get them on but saving them for a cold spell. Sizing is hit and miss. 6 for fitflops but definitely a 7 for Billows. Am usually a 6 and a half to 7 (UK) but Billows a bit tight and expecting them to stretch a bit. Had plantar fascitis and spent a fortune on special orthotics but not sure whether I would have needed them had I bought fitflops first!
Luv um!! I had not heard of FitFlops but saw them at Disney World in August. I liked the look of support and purchased a pair. I saw they were FitFlops when I got them back to the hotel. They were the only shoe I wore for the rest of the summer. I found this web site while looking for a winter pair. To Dixie Chick.. I experienced nothing like what you described. It sounds like you don’t have the right size. Mine felt wonderful from the first time I put them on. They are now my favorite house shoe.
